STEPHEN VALASSAKIS

Physiotherapist Brisbane City

Stephen Valassakis (BSc (Hons), MSc, APA) is a High-Performance Rehabilitation Physiotherapist. His passion for football led him on a journey from Brisbane to the UK, where he played semi-professional football and completed an undergraduate degree in Sports Therapy followed by a Masters in Physiotherapy. Stephen has worked with English Premier League Club Burnley FC, former premier league club Oldham Athletic FC, Salford City FC (co-owned by Class of 92) and English Super League Clubs Wigan Warriors and St Helens. His recent position was Head Physiotherapist for Tranmere Rovers FC (in the English Football League). He has provided medical cover for special events such as the London Marathon and match day cover for professional football.

Stephen has also lectured in Sports Therapy for university and private education providers. Whilst working in private practice he developed an interest in the biomechanical requirements of cyclists and the implications on injury risk, prompting him to complete bike fitting courses accredited by the International Bike Fitting Institute.

Stephen’s ethos is that elite level physiotherapy and performance should be accessible to everyone. He has successfully applied the principles and experience of managing elite athletes to his private practice where he treats a wide variety of patients and injuries, from every day office workers and corporate professionals through to athletes. Stephen enjoys working with clients to improve their health, performance and rehabilitation from injury and surgery. Read more about Stephen’s experience and how he can help you here.
